IMBA Trail Crew in Upstate

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew Weekend will take place March 10 - 13 this year in Greenville, SC. The event is part of International Mountain Bike Association's grassroots educational program and an authority on
sustainable trail building practices. Two teams of trail experts travel year-round throughout North America and beyond, leading trail work sessions, meeting with land managers and working with IMBA-affiliated clubs and the communities they serve to improve mountain biking opportunities.

imba trailcareThe weekend's events are free and open to the public. They will kick off on Thursday Club Care Leadership training to help grow membership and reach out to communities. Friday's Land Manager Training will focus on IMBA's mission and the methods and importance of sustainable trail building. Saturday will focus on trail building, with hands-on practice in the afternoon at Timmons Park.

Upstate SORBA selected Timmons Park with the goal of bringing the what used to be an ideal cycling spot back to its former glory. Timmons Park is nearly unrecognizable from the mile or so loop that drew after work riders that it used to be. The techniques practiced will include trail building theory; essential elements of sustainable trails; designing, constructing, rerouting, andreclaiming trails; and advanced trail construction. The Trail Care Crew Weekend will end with a group ride at Paris Mountain State Park on Sunday. This is a great way to get local riders involved in training that can keep our trails beautiful and functional for a long time.
